It's pretty simple really, football hasn't been his priority for a long time. To be that talented, and to only play the amount of games he has is a shame for him more than anything else, but he's never seemed that bothered.

He's rich beyond his wildest dreams now, and I reckon he'll go to the MLS and rake it in there for a couple of years.

Re: Lingard
Honestly, I think he'd be a good addition to the squad if we are in Europe again next season.

Knows the club and clearly really enjoyed his spell here.

Re: Lingard
Looked at the Forrest line ups a few times, I know he had some minor injuries but has gone from first team regular to warming the bench.

Not done a whole lot, really fucked himself tbh, went from a media darling when with us and doing well, maybe went to his head a bit as I expect his stick has taken a tumble!

If the opportunity arose that he came back, I’m undecided, clearly if he wants to play he can and is top draw, but it’s all the baggage and hanger ons that maybe drag him down.

Aside of anything else, the comments below should be sufficient to look elsewhere
I've said, with no inside knowledge, but just reading the public comments and Noble's private player meeting that Moyes's role is untenable and he will be gone - likely he officially walks, behind it is hoofed
Fuck up the selection/subs in Prague and there can be no ambiguity

Time will tell

Re: Lingard
I don't want to blow smoke up his arse, but of all the people who give inside info from the club, over the years Griff has been the one who gets it right. I'm sure he won't mind me saying he's sent me a couple of WHOmails over time which proved to be bang on.

It's pretty clear what has gone on this season, doesn't take much to work it out.

Re: Lingard
Griff - cheers for that, mate. Spot on. Really worrying that certain folk are taking that approach with players like Kehrer. Don’t get me wrong: he hasn’t fitted in brilliantly. But that might partially explain why.

Those days of general player management should be long gone. Rightly or wrongly, good clubs have changed approach. You can’t be Clough these days.

"But I do think we signed some players last summer who are not really “Moyes” players - like Scamacca. He’s a fine striker, btw. But we now know Moyes wanted him to do things - like chasing balls into channels and high presses etc - that are not his game."

agreed, and so does the player.

On Noble - honestly, one of those where i probably know enough to be dangerous, and put 2+2 together generally. Know for a fact that the Lithuania story below is true. Also know for a fact that in mid-Jan, the dressing room was a mess. The players seem happier now, and there's only one thing that's changed since then, and thought Rice's comments about how all the players want to win it for Noble were fairly pointed in that space. He isn't supposed to be anywhere near the first team really, but he's had to be.

southbankbornnbred 11:33 Wed May 24
Re: Lingard
Ps - do you really think Noble had had that effect on the players since starting his new role?

I’m not doubting it. If he has, then fucking great. That bodes well.

southbankbornnbred 11:30 Wed May 24
Re: Lingard
Yeah, Griff, I know what you mean: we all over-analyse these things at time.

But I do think we signed some players last summer who are not really “Moyes” players - like Scamacca. He’s a fine striker, btw. But we now know Moyes wanted him to do things - like chasing balls into channels and high presses etc - that are not his game.

Hence Moyes’ bizarre public statement about his “data” being all wrong. Sure: for Moyes’ approach.

Personally, I’d still move on from Moyes. The Europa run hasn’t changed that. But Sullivan might not twist.

Re: Lingard
"People are just hurt because he chose Forest over us"

I was absolutely delighted when he chose Forest, the only poxy thing was that our fucking manager couldn't see what many of us could clearly see with him and wasted the summer chasing him.

I was actually one of the very few that was happy with him signing on loan, but after that, once he chose to stay with Man Utd, it was clear football wasn't his thing. All that bollocks about OGS promising games, he hadn't been a regular with them in over a decade, he should've pushed for a move, but he didn't because he's not bothered about playing football.

stewie griffin 11:17 Wed May 24
Re: Lingard
I don't think it - or anything about Moyes' management - is anything like that complicated, sbbb son.

Take Kehrer for example, looked much better recently hasn't he?
The old 'time to settle' cliche will undoubtedly get trotted out, but the truth is that he spent his first six months at the club being told he wasn't good enough to play for Lithuania let alone Germany, and since the end of January he's had someone knocking on his door, at home & in hotel rooms etc, telling him he's mustard, that he deserves to be here, and that he's an important part of West Ham United Football Club. We love to over analyse football in this day & age, but in truth its not all that complex generally speaking.

Lingard deserves to be executed for all those ridiculous teaser Instagrams he posted at the start of the season.

southbankbornnbred 11:12 Wed May 24
Re: Lingard
Another serious point: we have to quickly decide, as a club, what we’re doing about the manager before making any transfer moves.

We’re at a crossroads. If Moyes is to leave, then the new manager needs to work closely with Noble etc in identifying the players he wants under a more progressive playing style.

If we stick with Moyes, then I’m afraid the lesson of this season is that we probably need to allow Moyes to sign “his” type of players. With the exception of Paqueta, the half-assed experiment this season with players who don’t fit Moyes’ mold hasn’t really worked (Scamacca, Emerson, Cornet (injuries, though). Square pegs in round holes.

The harsh reality is that our form has improved again since Moyes stopped trying to use players he doesn’t comprehend, and went back to having Antonio chase shadows into channels etc, Soucek running his legs off (off the ball: terrible innit).

Either we ditch Moyes and rethink the kind of players to bring in. Or, if people want to keep Moyes, then I’m afraid we probably have to back him to sign “his” players.

The halfway house was fucking awful.

I know what I’d do.

Re: Lingard
Can see him going to the States, joining Burnley (or a newly promoted club) on a short-term contract or Rangers.

He’s in that phase of his career now.

southbankbornnbred 11:03 Wed May 24
Re: Lingard
Serious point: we’d look like a really weak football club if we went back to Lingard now, him having turned us down (effectively) twice.

Since his short spell here, we’ve been to a Europa Cup semi-final and now a UECL Final. He could have been part of that if he’d knuckled down and grafted as a permanent member of the playing staff. Instead, he stayed overly loyal to Man Utd when he should have left them, then he fucked us around over wages etc and joined Forest for cash.

In the meantime, his playing form has got worse.

You don’t go back to those players if you’re trying to go up a gear as a club.

Moncurs Putting Iron 10:59 Wed May 24
Re: Lingard
His mistake wasn't going to Forest, it was going back to Manchester only to have his wave crash repeatedly against the bench.

He's done now and I will drive him to the airport for his MLS semi retirement myself.

southbankbornnbred 10:56 Wed May 24
Re: Lingard
Yep, I’m with most fans on here - Jesse missed his chance with us, and there’s little point going back to him now.

Wrong side of 30 now, we know he demands wages he doesn’t merit, started to get niggling injuries etc.

As we know, when you strip away the nonsense, there’s a good player in there. Really enjoyed his loan spell. But there is also the nonsense. We offered him a way out twice before and he didn’t take it. His fault.

Move on.

Re: Lingard
Everyone makes mistakes in football ....

Lingard believed OGS when he said if he came back to Man U he'd be given opportunities
Southgate didnt pick him for the Euros ... still say if Kane and Mount had been hooked for Antonio & Lingard after an hour of the final (& Rice kept on) England would have won
West Ham should have given Lingard a week to commit to coming back but let it drag out for months
Forest wasted £10m on him .... Cooper quickly realised he was done and sidelined him

Lingard is done. Needs to scoot off to the MLS & become a TikTok sensation for Beckham's team or Northern Solds favourites the Miami Benders

More delighted than hurt, Pagey son?

Mike SMALL had a little purple patch with us. Top scorer in the league at xmas iirc. Longer than Lingard's and scored more goals.
He was shit as well.
